Woodward Group is delighted to welcome three enthusiastic new electrical apprentices to our team: George Sparks, Kane Foy, and Shane Lester. Each of them brings a strong passion for the electrical field, a commitment to learning, and an eagerness to grow in their careers. We’re excited to have them on board as they embark on their journey in the mechanical and electrical industry.
George Sparks
The first of our electrical apprentices, George Sparks, joins Woodward Group with a solid foundation in electrical work, having independently completed both Level 2 and Level 3 electrical courses after finishing his GCSEs in 2022. His proactive approach and keen interest in becoming an electrician led him to join Woodward Group.
Currently working on the Ibstock Brick project in Nostell (you read more about our recent work with Ibstock Brick here), George will undergo on-the-job assessments over the next year before preparing for his AM2 qualification. Passing this will mark him as a fully qualified electrician.
George says: “I chose to undertake an apprenticeship with Woodward Group as the company focuses on industrial work, both in large-scale projects and daily operations. The variety of work, often involving travel across the country and even internationally, gives me the chance to experience new challenges and gain lots of experiences at pace. I’m most looking forward to progressing in my apprenticeship journey and travelling for work next year.”
Kane Foy
Kane began his journey with Woodward Group in October 2024, after completing school earlier in the year. Over the course of his four-year apprenticeship, Kane will balance college learning with on-site experience. He is currently part of the Small Works division, where he is gaining exposure to a variety of tasks, including installing light fittings, general site maintenance, and EV charging point installations.
Kane says: “I’m thrilled to be taking on an apprenticeship with Woodward Group. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from skilled workers in the team, and work on real projects that challenge me to grow every day. I’m especially looking forward to expanding my skills in industrial and commercial installations, working towards certifications, and building a strong foundation for a rewarding career.”
Shane Lester
Shane also joined Woodward Group in October after finishing school this year. Like Kane, he is part of the Small Works division and is undertaking a four-year apprenticeship. Shane is already making significant contributions, working on tasks such as EICR remedials, fault callouts, and new line supplies for customers – including a recent project in Warrington.
Shane says: “I chose to undertake my apprenticeship at Woodward Group because of the company’s outstanding reviews from clients. I believe I can learn a lot here. So far, I’ve really enjoyed working alongside Gavin and Ben and I am looking forward to seeing how much I can improve myself and my electrical skills in the coming year.”
A bright future ahead
At Woodward Group, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals, and we are proud to have George, Kane, and Shane join our team as electrical apprentices. Their drive, curiosity, and passion for the trade make them valuable additions to the team. We can’t wait to see how they progress and contribute to our projects in the months and years ahead.
